John was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. He was the son of Henry and Isabel Vasey, who lived at 48 Victoria Terrace, Whitley Bay. He had one sister called Isabell Vasey. John was a Laboratory Assistant at Armstrong College. John died of his wounds on 9th July 1916 aged 28.
