Albert lived with his widowed mother, Annie Ellen Lowes and his four siblings, Robert Telford (a marine engineer) William, (an estate agent), Mary Elizabeth Blanche Augusta, (a typist), and their aunt Mary Elizabeth Lowes. He was educated at Dame Allan’s Endowed School, Newcastle upon Tyne, then Armstrong College. He was employed as an architect before the War.
Albert died in action at Ypres on 26th April 1915 aged 26.

Albert is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial in West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
Albert is also commemorated on a plaque to former pupils of Dame Allan School, now situated in Newsom Hall, Fenham, and on the screen in Jesmond Parish Church. In the same church there is a brass plaque dedicated to him, erected by his mother.
