Patrick was the son of John and Annie Murray. Patrick originally served with the Northumberland Hussars Yeomanry in South Africa. He was commissioned on 1st January 1915 and attained the rank of Captain in June of that year in the Northumberland Fusiliers, 25th Battalion. Patrick was killed in action on 1st July 1916 in the opening phase of the Somme which was called the Battle of Albert and lasted from 1-13th July 1916.
Patrick is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in Somme, France.
