Eric was the son of the late Magnus and Mary Helen MacGregor Sandison of Highlaws Ayton, Berwickshire. Eric was mentioned in despatches for his part in a raid on 8th November. He and Captain Selby with 42 Other Ranks raided German trenches in the Bois Grenier sector. After a fierce bombing contest the raid was successful with many German casualties and a Trench Mortar destroyed. Eric died of wounds in France on the 18th November 1916.
Eric is buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
